3RD PARTY
LOGISTICS

A shipper entrusts logistic operations to a logistics company for a long-term period

Generally, this refers to the proposing of logistics reform to a shipper and contracting overall logistics operations.
A 3PL business is fundamentally considered to be one where a third party with knowhow (in Japanese these are sometimes transportation companies) acts as an agent of a shipper in logistics planning, design, and operations in order to avoid inconveniences associated with the conflict of interest issue between the shipper and the transportation company.
